The great Penang debate

vox populi small thumbnail 'Koh, be a man! Just go for the debate and let people judge who is the ultimate winner, loser or liar.'

Ex-CM accepts new CM's debate dare but...

Malaysianrights : Public monies are collected to run the state and the state uses the money to take care the public. So the public deserve to get all the answers. But both must be given a chance to prove: did they manage the fund and carry out their duties without fear or favour?

Louis : The cancer of the case started by Koh Tsu Koon. Had Koh been a man during his tenure as CM, all these land scandals and scams would not have resulted. He is the main cause. Gerakan will never make any comeback in Penang.

Pgiia : Koh Tsu Koon, whatever you said doesn't matter to us Penangites. Under your leadership, Penang didn't grow as it should. You are a disgrace to us Penangites. Seriously, do you think you have any support left in Penang? Go around and find out.

Gk : There should be no condition attached for a debate to proceed. If because of having this debate, Lim Guan Eng declassifies the documents, then it becomes a precedent. People will ask then, if last time you could, why not now? Koh, be a man! Just go for the debate and let people judge who is the ultimate winner, loser or liar.

Chee Hoe Siew : Huh? Is Koh asking Lim to show him all the cards even before the start of a poker game? If Lim must show all, so does Koh. If Koh is serious about transparency, he should take the lead in showing all the documents he has on the case.

Kss : Koh's request seems very fair and Lim should accept his challenge. The revelations and debate will give the general public a better and more accurate picture about the whole Kampung Buah Pala issue.

If Lim now finds excuses not to reveal all the information requested by Koh and tries to back out of the debate, he will be sending the message that the DAP and BN are not very different and his CAT slogan is just like the 1 Malaysia slogan.

Ravi: Koh is just as guilty for initiating and being party to the fraudulent Kampung Buah Pala land deal as Lim who finalised it, despite their denials. Let's see if Lim is competent enough to be accountable and transparent to us Penangites who voted DAP in for change.

So far, DAP has shown us that they're from the same mould as BN and Umno (different party, same crap). This is your chance to prove your proclaimed innocence, Lim.

Wife defends embattled MIC boss

Yuvan : While it may be true that Mahathir Mohamad's comments were a bit too harsh, Indrani should know that her husband, S Samy Vellu, should take full responsibility for some big blunders that he had committed in managing MIC and its affairs.

Most important of all, Samy Vellu should accept full blame for the failure to groom and develop more dynamic and capable leaders to take over from him. He should not have taken 30 years to do this job and should know that he had stayed far too long.

Indrani, as a mother, can defend her son, Vel Paari. But what has Vel Paari done so far to prove his worth? What are his capabilities? Has he done anything meaningful or substantial to demonstrate his capacity for leadership? It is disappointing that all that the community has known and heard about him so far has not been good or acceptable.

Kgen: Samy Vellu isn't a complete failure. At least, he has managed to make at least one Indian rich - himself. Now it's time to go. Samy, haven't you stolen enough?

Gandhi: Madam, don't you know that MIC can be managed by anyone? MIC can't get anything done as MIC has its limits. So, you don't need a genius to run the party. He has not done anything to the community. 90 percent of the Indians would celebrate his departure.

PKR's Shahruddin to make it three-way fight

Wira : Umno is fielding one of their most openly corrupt ones. So it is no surprise we'll find Shahruddin Abd Hamid of PKR contesting. I don't know how many millions will change hands to win one convincingly for Umno. The soon-to-be ex-PKR guy may just be one of those beneficiaries.

Kwong Kam Thiem : This guy is not a team player. Pakatan leaders have decided that Zulkefly Mohamad Omar is the best candidate. He should support the leadership. He wants to be independent. He should quit PKR or PKR should sack him.

Md Imraz Muhammed Ikhbal: This PKR guy is hardly of any substance. Just a desperado probably paid by Umno to create chaos. If he can actually garner votes on his own merit, then so be it but PKR must never allow him to contest on their ticket and confuse the public. He should for now be immediately sacked from the party if PKR is really serious about mitigating the situation.
