BN candidate Mohd Isa Abdul Samad is confident that Bagan Pinang voters will choose him as their representative come polling day on Oct 11.

bagan pinang by election nomination 031009 isa samad "I believe they will do so as I am still capable of carrying out my responsibility as the people's representative based on my experience," he told reporters at the nomination centre for the Bagan Pinang by-election in Port Dickson today.

Isa ( left ) is facing PAS state chief Zulkefly Mohd Noor in the crucial by-election.

The former Negeri Sembilan menteri besar is also upbeat of the support among the various communities in Bagan Pinang as he is a long-time resident there and that this will be his first chance of representing the people in his village.

Controversial candidate

He had been the Linggi assemblyman and Jempol member of parliament, and had served as menteri besar for over two decades.

When asked about him candidacy, Mohd Isa said it was well-received by all BN component parties.

Mohd Isa has been a controversial candidate as he was suspended and stripped of his Umno vice-president post in 2004 for vote buying.
