Bagan Pinang boycott: 'Don't throw away your vote'
'This call to boycott the Bagan Pinang by-election is a silly one. This is the best opportunity for the Indian Malaysian community to show both BN and Pakatan that they must answer to the people'.
Should Indian voters boycott Bagan Pinang?
Steve Ong: This call to boycott the Bagan Pinang by-election is a silly one. This is the best opportunity for the Indian Malaysian community to show to both the BN and Pakatan Rakyat parties that they have to answer to the people in all their decision-making, both good or bad.
If the Indians boycott, then the current government will think that they are doing a good job and will continue doing what they have been doing all along.
The position of the Indian community will remain the same ie, neglected and abused as they are a minority. See what the government is doing now to appease the Indians in order to get their votes?
So please think and analyse the consequences before you boycott the Bagan Pinang polls.
Mathavan Velayutham: P Uthayakumar is right in this matter. We must exactly follow the Mahatma's way in abstaining from voting. It doesn't mean that we'll boycott all the upcoming elections.
Uthaya is not a racist, he is just asking for our rights. Why is Pakatan also neglecting the Indians?
During the last general elections, Anwar Ibrahim said ‘makkal sakthi' wherever he went but now he just keeps silent on matters pertaining to Indians.
Why is it Pakatan in Perak can give so much of land to Chinese schools and Chinese squatters but when it came to Indian matters they said, ‘We are new in governing, so we need some time to do things'.
If Hindraf is racist, what is PAS? Why should I support racists? Are there any non-Malay members of PAS?
Concerned Citizen: In any democracy, the right to vote is an important right not to be treated lightly.
In our democracy, the right of the non-bumiputras to vote was earned through the blood, sweat and tears of our forefathers.
To waste the right to vote on the recommendation of one man is to belittle our forefathers' efforts and is a sheer waste and mockery of our citizenship.
Please do not listen to any person who says to abstain from voting. Voting is your right, use it wisely.
Paul Warren: Indian Malaysians have been hurt by all the political representation that they have had. If the Indians decide that they don't need political representation, then the next question would be on what they should do in Bagan Pinang.
They could vote either Umno or PAS with no consideration of any favours in return. They could abstain from voting. They could vote for the party that has hurt them the least.
Between PAS and Umno, Umno has certainly hurt the Indians the most.
Indians would be better off going for it on their own. Don't let anyone induce you to follow them. Make your own choices and act on it like you are the only ones who can do it for you.
Stinky complaint against Penang CM
Ong: Dealing with buyers' complaints is part of PDC's (Penang Development Corporation) day-to-day management. Lim Guan Eng both as chief minister or PDC chairperson should not have to get involved.
Ng Wei Aik (Lim's political secretary) was correct in advising the CM to refer the matter to the tribunal. If eventually the tribunal rules against PDC then LGE as PDC chairperson, and not as CM, should ensure that disciplinary action be taken against the negligent PDC officials.
The report quotes Soon Lean Huat as saying: ‘He has actually challenged me to lodge a complaint against his own boss, the chief minister'.
I wonder if those were Soon's exact words. To me a complaint against PDC does not equate to a complaint against the CM personally.
If those were indeed the exact words of Soon, then in my opinion, he should asked how a complaint against PDC becomes a complaint against the current Penang CM personally.
Wira: Why didn't this guy bring his grievances to the previous CM's office or the tribunal earlier if indeed the property had been leaking sewage on him all these years?
Which seller is going to guarantee a ‘defect' that can be tolerated for 10 long years?
Ragavan Menon: More of Lim's antics are coming out into the open. I don't think he is a clean man. Pakatan Rakyat needs a reputable leader.
Huszailelawati Daley Mohd Hassim: The tribunal is the correct channel for home buyers to lodge their complaints or grievances. This buyer should have done it many years back.
If the CM and PDC were to entertain such requests, it would set a precedent and there'll be no end of requests (non-legitimate ones included) from buyers to fix their home for free after the warranty period.
Altantuya's ghost to 'dog' Najib in Paris
Murali: As usual, this case will get the highest attention in Paris and then will disappear like smoke in the wind.
Samama: Will those who are in Paris to carry out the job expect a Japanese-style confession after they have issued the statement?
Rocky: Open house in Paris. Did they serve any Mongolian BBQ? Any Mongolian attended the party? Did the PM's good friend Razak Baginda come by?
