Numerous BN posters and billboards lining the streets of Jalan Pantai, the main road of the Bagan Pinang constituency, are being used to attack opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim on a host of issues that range from him leading demonstrations to being a Malay traitor.

The attacks also came in the form of full-colour leaflets placed in between the pages of an Umno-linked Bahasa Malaysia newletter that was being distributed free of charge on the roadside.

"The anti-BN sentiment is closely correlated to Anwar's leadership and Umno is scared.

"Currently, he is not even in the country. Why is he being attacked?" he asked.

Anwar is only expected to join the campaign from Oct 8 after he returns.

EC urged to be fair

In another development, Badrul Hisham said PKR Youth and PAS Youth have lodged a protest against the Election Commission and the Port Dickson Municipal Council (MPPD) for taking sides when removing posters.

Badrul Hisham said the EC and MPPD have been actively removing posters of PKR and DAP, but that BN-linked groups such as Indian Progressive Front, Indian Muslim Congress and BN supporters' clubs have been given immunity.

"The BN supporters' clubs are not even registered organisations, but yet the EC and MPPD have allowed them to set up roadside operation centres and hang up their campaign materials," he said.

"This shows that the EC cannot prove itself to be an impartial administrator of the elections."

He said the banner was donated by Rembau residents because they want to highlight unfulfilled promises made by the BN during the last general election.

Deadline for EC

"They are geram (frustrated) so they came up with the banner because they know they don't have a chance to air their grievances in the mainstream press. They don't want Bagan Pinang folks to be cheated as well.

Badrul Hisham said he had lodged a police report yesterday and his PAS counterparts have done the same.

He said both PAS Youth and PKR Youth have given the EC a deadline to act against BN-linked groups or the two Youth wings will take matter into their own hands and remove the campaign materials themselves.

However by 4pm, EC personnel were seen removing the campaign materials of the BN-linked groups.
