In the final dash to the Bagan Pinang by-election, PAS' spade is working at frantic speed digging more dirt on Barisan Nasional candidate Mohd Isa Samad.

The former Negri Sembilan menteri besar is carrying the hope of the ruling coaliton to reverse its poor fortune in such elections at Sunday's polls.

NONE PAS vice president Salahuddin Ayub( left ) at a press conference today revealed that the land fronting the BN mobile headquarters for this by-election had been taken by Isa and his cronies, to be used as Malay reserve land.

"This happened during Isa's tenure as menteri besar. The land, situated in Batu 6 Telok Kemang and measuring five hectares, was acquired and exchanged among Isa and his cronies.

"The portion of land was developed by Marina Bay resort. There are many lots of Malay reserve land in Bagan Pinang and Teluk Kemang which had been transferred to Isa's cronies or individuals who are close to him," he alleged.

Salahuddin described Isa as an icon of falsehood and corruption. All evidence point to the corruption charge which the former menteri besar have been punished for. He has abused his position to enrich himself and his family, said Salahuddin.

Zulkefly in his turn revealed how Isa had also cheated pig farmers by acquiring their land and subsequently charging them a high premium.

"This robbery in broad daylight was carried out by Isa and his administration, at the height of the Japanese encephalitis epidemic, when he was menteri besar.

A dubious character like him is not qualified to represent the people," said the PAS candidate.

Several pig farmers who were present at the press conference joined Zulkefly in voicing their discontent with the high premium land charges imposed.

Salahuddin: Police report lodged

NONE The PAS vice-president also disclosed that five police reports had been lodged against Umno Youth supporters who assaulted PAS party workers on Wednesday afternoon and early Thursday morning.

"I do not understand why Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein and the Negri Sembilan police chief keep denying this but we have evidence that the victims did indeed lodge (police) the reports".

"They could be in total denial over the whole issue of Umno Youth members adopting rough tactics," said Salahuddin.

To back his statement, Salahuddin showed the report lodged by party worker Abu Said Elias which described the incident at Kampung Bagan Pinang.

Asked whether he was willing to meet the Negri Sembilan police chief to discuss the issue, Salahuddin said, "I will go when I am called".

"So far I have not been called up by the police. If they call me I will go," he said.

More postal voters allegations

Salahuddin also provided more evidence of the Election Commission's (EC) alleged abuse of postal voters by not using the roll that had been gazetted and displayed on nomination day.

"This clearly violates the Election rules 1981. There were also complaints that some postal voters could not cast their votes as their names were not on the list".

"Despite assurances by the EC we continue to see such discrepancies happening.

"We will lodge a protest with the commission over this. We also urge the EC to stop the polling on Oct 11 for fear that it could be declared null and void following this discrepancy," he said.

Salahuddin said if this happens it would be a waste of public funds.

He also said that he has instructed PAS lawyers to look into the possibility of taking legal action but did not specify when this would happen.

"There is still time to do this (despite polling being scheduled for this Sunday)".

Asked to comment on the party's final preparations, Salahuddin who is heading the party election machinery,said it was going well with the final phase seeing senior Pakatan leaders like PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim, PAS spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, DAP leaders Lim Guan Eng and Lim Kit Siang delivering speeches.

"The reception for change is there and we are quite confident there will be some impact," he said ,without elaborating.
