The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today held a briefing session for editors of six Chinese dailies as part of its programme to establish rapport with them.

MACC's communications unit officer Supt Nurhasmah Mohamed Kassim said the one-hour meeting that began at 11am involved China Press, Sin Chew Daily, Nanyang Siang Pau, Oriental Daily, Guang Ming Daily and Kwong Wah Yit Poh .

The meeting was aimed to ensure balanced reporting about MACC and its work to combat corruption, she told Bernama.

On another matter, she said seven BN members were charged in court for corruption from January to June this year.

She said this showed MACC was impartial and took action irrespective of whether the persons concerned were from the opposition or the BN.

She added that last year, five politicians were charged in court for graft, including two from the Pakatan Rakyat.
