Three more individuals have been issued with notices to appear before the panel of doctors conducting psychiatric interviews, in connection with the inquest into the mysterious death of political secretary Teoh Beng Hock.

Teoh ( left ), political secretary to Selangor exco Ean Yong Hian Wah, was found dead outside the Selangor headquarters of the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission in July.

His death occurred just hours after being called in for an interview by the anti-graft watchdog in connection with alleged improprieties in the allocation of funds to electoral districts in Selangor.

Malaysiakini has been informed that the three individuals instructed to appear before the panel are Ean Yong's confidential secretary Hiew Kim Boon, Kajang municipal councillor Tan Boon Wah and DAP MP Teresa Kok's assistant Mandy Hui.

The interviews which is the first ever use of forensic psychiatry in the country, is a new direction in the investigation into Teoh's death.

The coroner in charge of the inquest has allowed for individuals connected to the case to be interviewed by psychiatrists in order to determine the state of mind of Teoh Beng Hock prior to the tragedy.

However, a request by the panel to interview all parties involved, including MACC officers, was turned down, and a directive was instead issued for them to only interview family members and those close to Teoh.

The panel is made up of Dr Bada'iah Yahya, forensic psychiatric consultant at Hospital Permai Johor, Dr Nor Hayati Ali of the Health Ministry and Dr Chee Kok Yun from the Selayang General Hospital.

Ean Yong's interview postponed

Earlier today, Selangor exco Ean Yong, Teoh's former employer, who was one of those instructed to appear before the panel of psychiatrists, attended his interview session at the Selayang General Hospital.

But he decided to postpone it as "they did not allow my lawyer to go in with me."

His attempt to negotiate with the doctors proved fruitless. The Seri Kembangan assemblyperson explained, "I tried to negotiate with them to allow my lawyer to accompany me. But they said their directive did not allow for a lawyer to accompany me."

Ean Yong ( right ) then decided to refer the matter to the coroner and wait for new instructions.

He added that, "These interviews is the wrong direction to take in the investigation into Teoh Beng Hock's death."

Yesterday, Teoh's family members who attended their scheduled session also faced the same problem and postponed their interview over the doctors' objection to their lawyers' presence.
