'Ong Tee Keat's about-turn in not resigning highlights the disease that plagues all head honchos of political parties - greed, corruption and power-abuse.'
Youth chief tells Ong to respect EGM decisions
Kenze: Why all the fuss? MCA no longer holds the respect of all right-thinking Chinese.
Ong Tee Keat's about-turn in not resigning and working with his nemesis Chua Soi Lek only highlights the disease that plagues all head honchos of political parties in this country - greed, corruption and power-abuse.
And the result of all their shadow play only creates more uncertainty, weakness and disasters for the people and country.
Multi Racial: Wee Ka Siong asked everyone to respect the MCA constitution. Okay then. The MCA constitution does not require the president to resign if he loses a vote of no-confidence by a simple majority.
So Ong Tee Keat need not resign. So what is the problem with Wee? As for working with Chua Soi Lek, don't you think the president is respecting the delegates' decision?
Based on the votes, 48% supported Ong and 47% supported Chua. Combined, they command 95% of the delegates' votes. Don't you think it is a natural thing for the president to adhere to the wishes of the delegates to work with Chua?
The presidential council was the one who decided to sack Chua as deputy president. The central committee approved the decision. So if Wee is referring to accountability, doesn't he think all the members of the central committee should also resign?
In my opinion, Ong did the right thing in staying on. If he had resigned, MCA would have been the biggest loser. Bravo, Ong!
Keanjin: MCA is a sinking boat. Who cares who is the president?
Malayamuda: The MCA Youth chief seems to have more common sense then the prime minister and the MCA president.
Wee Ka Siong , you should be prime minister for at least you know the constitution has to be respected.
Lvbala: Why have an EGM if one never respects the outcome? Why should an EGM be called if its decision can be overridden by another clause?
This is how one stays on in power even when he is clearly rejected by the majority. Why should there be this ‘wayang kulit'? If the one had majority support, than he will proudly bark that he is still wanted. But when he fails to get majority support, he says he is still needed because he still has two-thirds support.
This is how BN plays its ‘wayang kulit'. This is the ‘sandiwara' played by BN to keep hanging onto power.
Father: Between all the guys at MCA, at least I trust Ong Tee Keat a wee bit.
Chua Soi Lek can never be accepted as Number 1 because a society as conservative as ours will never accept a leader who is unfaithful to his legal wife. As for Wee Ka Siong and Liow Tiong Lai, they have already proved to be overly-ambitious and greedy for posts without proving themselves first.
Ong may not be a team player but he is brave and I believe he will not suck it up to Umno like the rest would.
Cala: It does not matter to MCA, really, who is the leader of the ‘third force' is. If the so-called ‘third force' comes into existence because of circumstances or natural progression, let it be.
Knowing that the MCA president can wield so much power under their party's institutional framework, it is certainly welcoming to see the birth of ‘third force', albeit in embryonic stage.
Liew AiLing: It's a real joke. Just a month ago, Ong Tee Keat called Chua Soi Lek all sorts of names including the latter being immoral.
Now it looks like it's okay for Ong to work with an ‘immoral' leader. It all goes to show that Ong is a man crazy for power and of no principles. He lied when he said he would resign.
I used to respect Ong before the EGM, but have now lost all my respect for him. If he had resigned, then he could have still saved some honour by re-contesting.
As for Ti Lian Ker - he is a real example how Ong is not sincere in uniting the party by using this henchman to attack other leaders.
