New Straits Times and Star both led with Tunku Mukhriz's installation as the ruler of Negri Sembilan.

New Straits Times also headlined that PAS' spiritual leader Nik Aziz is to explain his call for an EGM in the musyawarah with party leaders tomorrow.

Star reported that the treasury is to meet its counterparts in ministries and agencies to curb excess spending.

Malay newspapers

Utusan Malaysia and Berita Harian featured a photo-spread of Tunku Mukhriz's installation.

Both papers also headlined PAS' musyawarah tomorrow and the possibility of an EGM. An accident in Dengkil which claimed the lives of a family of four, including a three-month-old baby was also played up by the papers.

Chinese Newspapers

China Press and Sin Chew Daily frontpaged MCA Youth and Wanita chief Wee Ka Siong and Chew Mei Fun respectively rebutting yet again allegations that they tried to topple MCA president Ong Tee Keat after the Oct 10 EGM.

Nanyang Siang Pau and Oriental Daily headlined Wee passing a remark that if any EGM passed a no-confidence resolution against him, even by one vote, he will resign as youth chief in an apparent potshot at the MCA president.

New Straits Times noted that despite the political turmoil experienced by Thailand, the 15 th Asean Summit in Cha-am showed that much progress has been achieved by the regional group. Nevetheless, more work needed to done on the nuts and bolts of agreements and commitments.

Berita Harian said that the Malaysian government's assistance in resolving the conflicts in Thailand showed our concern for our neighbours. It said Malaysia could also play a role in resolving conflicts in the Philippines, as assisting our neighbours also ensures our nation's security.

Utusan Malaysia said that the opposition have not governed their states wisely compared to the BN government. Their promises to the rakyat remain unfulfilled, while the prime minister has fulfilled his promises even before the 2010 budget was announced.

Sin Chew Daily commented that Free Trade Zone for South-east Asian or Asian Pacific region suggested by Japan and Australia were feasible plans, and Malaysia should prepare itself for this development.

Nanyang Siang Pau said that the protracted MCA internal power struggle is eroding Chinese support for it.
