Officers from the Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) today took statements from a special officer to a Selangor state executive councillor relating to an allegation that the office of a Selangor exco member was used as a meeting place for people connected with underground business activities.

Daniel Chong, 22, special officer to Selangor state executive councillor Ronnie Liu, was seen entering the office of the CCID at the Selangor contingent police headquarters located on the 5th Floor of the Umno building about 10.30am and gave his statement over almost four hours.

Wangsa Maju member of parliament Wee Choo Keong had in his blog alleged that a certain Selangor exco member had used his office as a meeting place for people connected with underground business activities.

On July 16, Wee was called to the Selangor contingent police headquarters to give his statement regarding the allegation.

When met by reporters, Chong said he gave the statement as a witness and questions posed to him were related to his duties as a special officer and the visits by people to Liu's office.

He said the summons notice issued by the police on Oct 26 was only received by him at 8pm yesterday in his house near Klang.

The secretary of the association of officers to the ruling state government assemblypersons, Ng Yap Hwa, said Chong was not given enough time by police to appoint a lawyer to accompany him for the questioning.

Meanwhile, Liu, when met by reporters after attending the weekly state executive councillors meeting here, said he was told that his special officer was asked to give a statement relating to allegations that his office was used as a meeting place for people connected with underground business activities.

"There is no basis, we have explained all this before, but when the police call us we have to cooperate and I asked him (Chong) to go. I am sure many people do not believe this allegation.

"There is no reason for gangsters to meet in my office, there have better offices, no need for our office," he said.

Liu however said the procedure used by the police this time around was better compared to before by requesting his assistant to come to their office to give a statement.

He said police only took the visitors' log book in relation to the allegation's investigation and he was unsure if he would be called to give a statement.

"Is my face that of a gangster?," he asked as he left reporters who were getting his reaction.
