The Selangor government will arrange and bear the cost of sending the body of abused maid Mantik Hani back to Indonesia.
Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said the state government had contacted the Indonesian embassy in Kuala Lumpur on the matter and arrangements were being made to send the body to Indonesia in three days.
"To show our sympathy over the tragedy, the state government will also pay a compensation to the victim's family," he told reporters after chairing the state executive council weekly meeting, here, today.
Mantik Hani, 36, was admitted to the intensive-care unit of Tuanku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang, near here, on Oct 20 after she was believed to have been abused by her employer.
Police found her in a semi-conscious state with severe injuries, in a toilet at her employers' house, following a report lodged by a cleaner who was also working there.
The maid, however, succumbed to her injuries at the hospital on Monday.
Her employer, a 35-year-old man and his wife have been arrested to facilitate police investigation into the case.
Klang police chief ACP Mohamad Mat Yusop today confirmed that the remand order for the man had been extended for another week.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
