Shah Alam PAS MP Khalid Samad today said he welcomes the move made by the party central committee last night to conduct an investigation into the PAS Selangor administration headed by its commissioner Hasan Ali.

"This time around, it is being listened to and considered more seriously and by referring it to the disciplinary committee shows the issue will not just stop there," he told reporters at Parliament lobby.

Khalid also flashed a smile when asked whether he agreed if Hasan, especially is being investigated by the disciplinary committee.

"I think when they said the disciplinary committee will look into Selangor, that's what it basically means isn't it? Unless they are referring to me," he laughed.

Last night, a meeting chaired by president Abdul Hadi Awang had tasked the party's disciplinary committee headed by Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man to investigate problems in Selangor.

Not disappointed with the result

Khalid also denied that he was disappointed with the decision to have a seminar instead of an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) as proposed by the party spiritual leader Nik Aziz Nik Mat previously.

Nik Aziz NONE ( left )had said that the EGM should be held to weed out ‘problematic leaders' who were seen to be supporting the unity talks with rivals Umno.

"Nobody said I wanted the EGM. What I said was what Tok Guru (Nik Aziz) had called for should be given serious consideration," he said, adding that he disagreed with Selangor information chief, Roslan Shahir Mohd Shahir who is also Hasan's loyalist.

"I did not agree to the Selangor information chief for pushing (Nik Aziz)'s suggestion aside without giving serious consideration and doing it in the name of PAS Selangor," he said.

Previously, Roslan had said that the EGM should not be considered because "there is no rift in the party leadership be it at federal level or state level at the moment".

However, Khalid said that the special meeting held by the party leaders last night showed that Nik Aziz's proposal was not taken lightly by the central committee and the president.

"This is of course different from the attitude that is being shown by our information chief in Selangor," he said.

Khalid nevertheless was disappointed as there was one issue that was not addressed in the meeting last night that is on whether the party should continue wih its struggle on the basis of Islam or Malay Islam.

"That has been an issue which I think the seminar will address and I will do my level best to make sure that a resolution clearly emphasising that PAS is an Islamic, non-racial party and that is what we want at the end," he added.
