A group of division leaders - from the Save the Party committee - today called for the resignation of the new MCA deputy president, Liow Tiong Lai, and 14 other members of the Central Committee (CC) who are unhappy that MCA president Ong Tee Keat is not adhering to the party's latest EGM's results.

chua soi lek 020108 During a news conference today, Theng Book, a central delegate, voiced out his disappointment with Liow and other members who are questioning the unity plan proposed by Ong and former deputy president Dr Chua Soi Lek.

"If you want Ong to follow the decision of the EGM, then you should adhere to it yourself. You should also resign to respect the decision," he lashed out at Liow.

A huge banner was displayed with the following sarcastic jab in Chinese: ‘Crab, do not criticise others if you cannot walk straight and Liow, if you have political ethics, please fulfil your promise and resign'.

Since the MCA EGM on Oct 10, the Liow and Ong relationship seems to have turned sour and accusations have been hurled from both sides.

It was reported that Liow has asked Ong to ‘respect the EGM's resolution and also claimed that the whole of CC were not consulted before Ong proposed the unity plan and has since been pressing for details.

NONE MCA PJS Division Youth, Sheah Kok Fah also questioned the sincerity of the 15 CC who called for the resignation of Ong.

"Ong (right) and Chua are good leaders, and they have proven so over time. We should give them a chance to service the community," he continued.

Meanwhile, Dr Wong Sai Hou who is the MCA PJA Division Secretary likened the MCA power struggle to Ong and Chua trying to find the light at the end of the tunnel, hence the unity plan.

However, he said, it seems like ‘three persons' are trying to close the tunnel - the three being Liow, Youth Chief Wee Ka Siong, and Wanita Chief Chew Mei Fun.

He also urged the MCA members to ‘give peace a chance' quoting John Lennon.
