In yet another twist, MCA Youth deputy chief Dr Mah Han Soon has denied that the central committee has earlier today passed a resolution pressing party president Ong Tee Keat to unveil his unity plan and respect the Oct 10 EGM results.

At a press conference at 9.30pm in a restaurant opposite the MCA headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Mah said the central committee members were merely briefed about the matter.

"Then there was a normal discussion," said Mah, who was flanked by several top brass of the Youth wing.

He repeatedly stressed no vote was taken on the matter.

Those in attendance included vice-chief Dr Chin Tung Leong, deputy secretary-general Loh Chew June, Penang chief Eng Hiap Boon, Kedah chief Ong Soon Boon and several central committee members.

No split, only differences of opinion

Mah said he and the 11 others had gathered over dinner this evening for an informal discussion and denied that there is a split in the Youth wing leadership.

"There is no split. There is only a difference in opinion," he said.

Mah repeatedly stressed during the 30-minute press conference that he and the group was in favour of giving the party leadership time to implement the unity plan.

"It is not easy to implement the plan. The party is big and complex. We hope everyone can give time for the leadership to achieve it," he said.

Though Mah denied that there is a rift in the Youth wing, his explicit support for Ong's unity plan will likely put him on a collision course with Youth chief Wee Ka Siong who is seeking Ong's ouster.
