A three-person PKR peace team led by director of strategies Tian Chua was scheduled to head for Kota Kinabalu this afternoon to help resolve a split within Sabah PKR which saw two resignations from top state leaders last week.

Also in the team is Sarawak PKR advisor Michael Bong, who has previously denied being a go-between party advisor Anwar Ibrahim and rebel division chiefs in Sabah.

NONE It was learnt from sources in Kuala Lumpur that senior PKR activist Chua Jui Meng ( left ) was also supposed to be in the team.

However, he had to excuse himself to attend to an emergency involving a family member in Melbourne.

Jui Meng is among those who attended a top-level meeting on Wednesday night in Kuala Lumpur to put together the peace plan.

It is understood that party president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Anwar were also present.

Keningau division chief Jeffrey Kitingan, who quit as PKR vice-president last week, confirmed that he would be receiving the team when they arrived at the airport in Sabah.

NONE Asked whether he had any expectations, he replied:

"None whatsoever. Whatever they are here for is too little, too late. We are just meeting them out of respect for Tian Chua ( right ) and Wan Azizah."

Kota Kinabalu division chief Christina Liew disclosed last night that Bong called her to alert her about the peace team's intended visit and to get the go-ahead.

"I had several calls today from Wan Azizah, Ansari (Abdullah) and Thamrin (Jaini)," said Christina, who joined Jeffrey in resigning from the national political bureau. "But I only picked up the call from Bong because I knew it would be something serious."

Anwar misled on Sabah

At the Wednesday meeting, Jui Meng reportedly stressed that Anwar had been misled on Sabah and made grave strategic errors that could see the party eliminated at the next general elections in the state. Jui Meng has been recently in the state to attend several party functions.

NONE Anwar was shocked when Jui Meng told him that he felt personally humiliated when only some 20-odd people turned up at the launching of ' Anwar on trial ', a book on the party advisor.

Jui Meng also told Anwar that only two books were sold at the function which was organised by Tuaran division chief Ansari Abdullah.

The next function that Chua attended, organised by Liew, was attended by more than 1,000 paying guests, the senior PKR activist told Anwar at the late-night meeting.

Jui Meng also told the party's de facto leader that the third function he attended in Keningau saw more than 5,000 enthusiastic people turning up. The Keningau function was organised by division chief Jeffrey.

Subsequently, Wan Azizah resolved that a peace team should be sent immediately to Kota Kinabalu and promised a personal follow-up visit soon.

It is not known what the peace team hopes to accomplish.

Speculation is rife that they have a mandate to offer the withdrawal of Libaran division chief Ahmad Thamrin Jaini as state chief.

There could be a possibility that either Wan Azizah or Anwar will temporarily take over the post before handing it over to Jeffrey.

There seems to be a big IF here.
