A PAS legislator alleged that he had evidence to back up his accusation that there were ‘hidden hands' involved in PAS' loss in the Bagan Pinang election.

In his state 2010 budget debate, PAS state assemblyperson Saari Sungib (right) (Hulu Kelang) said the prime minister's department and the National Security Council (NSC) sent out a secret document to Selangor district officers.

These district officers had been called up by the Selangor Select Committee on Transparency, Accountability and Transparency (Selcat) public inquiry two days before the Bagan Pinang by-election.

Saari, who is also one of the Selcat committee members, said the document, marked ‘sulit' (confidential), was circulated to all district officers who were involved in the public inquiry.

"The document was even signed by the sender together with all the contact details," said Saari, it contained a questionnaire to the district officers which asked them to give their views on Selcat.

According to him, the district officers were asked about the recent Selcat hearing and how they felt about Selcat's powers when conducting the inquiry into mismanaged allocation of funds by BN assemblypersons before March 8 general elections.

"They were even asked about how they felt (about) Selcat's chairperson Teng Chang Khim and Selcat's panels.

"And one thing that amused me the most is when the district officers were asked how they felt about (state exco) Hasan Ali's criticisms on Selcat," said Saari, drawing laughter from the state assembly.

According to Saari, the answers given by the district officers would go to the Prime Minister's Department and the NSC.

"We didn't know that this has been happening under our nose...but I know the government officers would be pressured to answer accordingly knowing that this would be forwarded (to these two departments)," he said.

Selcat has BN members too

NONE In a related development, Lau Weng San (left) (DAP-Kampung Tunku) lashed out against the BN trio who earlier this week had filed a suit against Selcat.

Their move was to challenge its formation as well as its suspension of several elected representatives to date. Selcat is headed by speaker Teng Chang Khim.

Raja Ideris Raja Ahmad (Sabak), Hasiman Sidom (Morib) and Wong Koon Mun (Kuala Kubu Baru) are seeking a declaration that Selcat had breached Standing Orders and the state constitution.

According to Lau, the BN trio should have known that they were suing two other BN assemblypersons Sulaiman Abdul Razak (Permatang) and Ismail Sani (Dusun) who are also in the committee.

"Although they have the rights to take legal action, (suing their own BN colleagues) shows that they are confused with their own actions," said Lau, in his state 2010 budget debate this morning.

"They are so confused with themselves that I can't even imagine that they could take legal action against their own people.

"It is enough to hear about MCA leadership crisis everyday, but now we see drama where BN leaders are suing each other," said Lau.
