Illegal MCA buildings might be the first to be demolished under the Selangor Pakatan Rakyat government if recalcitrant MCA members continue to inhabit them.

A check by the Hulu Selangor district office shows that there is an "illegal MCA building" at Ulu Yam Baru and another one near Kampung Baru Bukit Chandang, which is sitting on JKR reserve land.

These buildings have been constructed without prior approval and permits.

Ean Yong said that his patience is wearing thin and urged MCA to vacate the buildings immediately.

He said that he had given MCA the opportunity to voluntarily give up the buildings, but it has failed to do so.

"We will take action against the illegal ones built by MCA, regardless of how ancient the buildings are, said Ean Yong. He added that as a last resort, he might order the buildings' demolition.

Buildings belong to state government, not MCA

He explained that the authorities have the absolute right to take over buildings sitting on government land without permits.

He also said that the previous JKKK of Kampung Baru Stesyen at Ulu Yam Lama refused to return the multipurpose hall to the land district office.

"Individuals involved are all MCA leaders and members," he said.

He warned that MCA's attempt to fool the state government to retain its hold on these "illegal buildings" is futile.

"Do not think that by adding a "P" to the "JKKK", the ownership of the land and building is reverted to the JKKKP or MCA.

"It still belongs to the state government and the Selangor people and must be given back immediately," he said.

When asked about the grace period before action is taken, he said it is one month.

He also revealed that over one hundred illegal buildings around Selangor have been taken over by the land district offices but none have been demolished.

"We rent these buildings out and the rentals collected are given to the land district offices. Our rental charges are cheap.

"Some of these buildings are also turned into public facilities or town halls," he said.

Ean Yong, who is also Selangor's new village development and illegal factory task force committee chairman, gave his speech during the wrapping up of the 2010 Budget.

In his speech, he also said that the state government has allocated RM5.4 million for village development in the Kampung Baru and Bagan area as compared to the paltry RM200,000 that the previous administration gave to 78 villages in these two areas for development annually.

"This means that the previous BN state administration is only giving each of these villages RM2,500 for development annually," he said.
