A special Pakistani envoy is in Malaysia as part of an Asian tour to brief regional leaders about the military stand-off with India, a diplomat said Wednesday.

The envoy, Najmuddin A Shaikh, will brief Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar about the crisis, said Shireen A Moiz, Pakistan's deputy high commissioner

"(He) will deliver a letter to Abdullah containing a special message from President Pervez Musharraf. He is expected to provide information regarding the stand-off between Pakistan and India," Moiz told AFP .

Moiz said Shaikh, who arrived here Tuesday, had already visited Singapore and Indonesia.

Shaikh, one of five emissaries sent abroad by Musharraf to explain his country's position on the dispute with India over Kashmir, will also meet Malaysian parliamentarians before flying to Japan on Friday, she said.
