The residents of Subang Jaya and Sunway in an effort to raise awareness about the extension of LRT line to their townships have started a blog to collect feedback on the matter.

Aside from a detailed feedback form, the blog also provides lengthy explanations on the project, the proposed routes and the locations of the stations.

Yeoh told reporters today the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ), which is tasked to collect feedback before the commencement of the project has only displayed "a guest book" in the lobby for residences to leave their comments and suggestions.

"The proposed route by Syarikat Prasarana Negara Bhd is currently at display at the MPSJ lobby but there is no other information about the project except for the one on their website.

kelana jaya proposed lrt extension 141109 map "We are a little disappointed that the concessionaire has not done enough to create awareness, so we formed an ad-hoc Action Group comprising of community representatives from JKP zones 1 to 3, Subang Jaya Residents Association and USJ Residents Association as well as Bandar Sunway Residents Association, SJ Alert and Transit," she said.

She added that the group will look into the social and environmental impact of the suggested extension and create awareness on the ground about the project before it begins.

According to Hannah, MPSJ has until the end of this year to compile all the feedback which will then be submitted to the Department of Railways for preview.

Unconvinced that the feedback in the guest book or via email to MPSJ will be given to the Department of Railways, she said the residents had started their own initiative to get feedback by themselves.

P lan differs from state gov't's

The Association For The Improvement Of Mass Transit' (Transit), chairperson Moaz Yusuf Ahmad said that among the queries that are yet to be addressed are availability of park-and-ride facilities, shuttle services to the LRT stations and the location of stations.

"We have had about 100 forms delivered to us and most of them are for the project but there are some related concerns that need to be addressed," said Moaz.

The people are concerned about illegal parking in their neighbourhood, traffic congestion during the construction period and the effect on their properties, he added.

Moaz said his NGO which addresses problems relating to public transportation is particularly concerned over the route plan of Syarikat Prasarana Negara Bhd as it differs structurally from the official one of the Selangor government.

The feedback forms are available on the blog to be downloaded. The forms can either be hand delivered to MPSJ, faxed to 03 5631 2757 or post by mail to PO Box 3215, 47509 Subang Jaya, Selangor.
