Former Works Minister Mohd Zin Mohamed was appointed as the chairperson of Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) replacing Lim Ah Lek effective Oct 1.

According to a statement by the Corporate Communications Unit of KTMB today the appointment by the Finance Ministry is for two years.

NONE Mohd Zin ( left ), who is also the Member of Parliament for Sepang, Selangor, had held several important positions in notable companies, including as member of the board of directors of the Putrajaya Corporation and Telekom Malaysia Berhad.

He has a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the Bradley University, Peoria, United States; is a registered professional engineer with the Malaysian Board of Engineers Board; and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

His involvement in politics began in 1986 and he was a Umno supreme council member and Sepang Umno division chief since 2004 besides being chairman of the Barisan Nasional Back Benchers Club.

Mohd Zin is the president of the Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Alumni and was Deputy Works Minister from 2004 till 2008.

KTMB congratulated Mohd Zin on his appointment and hoped he will discharge his duties as KTMB chairman with distinction towards the concept of 1Malaysia.
