'Age not a barrier to senatorship'
'Congratulations to Syed Husin Ali for being made a senator. He is the right man. Age does not matter as wisdom comes with age. I pray that he will carry out his responsibilities well.
'
S'gor names Syed Husin as senator
Kris Khaira: Okay, so we have a 73-year-old senator. What happened to empowering the younger generation? Can we move on already?
Jacob George: In this case, age does not matter. He has the academic qualification, the track record, and is very respected on all sides of the political spectrum. He is a jewel of a man. He always thinks of others, and is selfless in his sacrifices - a quality not in the DNA of today's politicians from either side of the political divide.
Ghazali Yusoff: Congratulations to Syed Husin Ali for being made a senator. He is the right man. Age does not matter as wisdom comes with age. I knew him from my student days at Universiti Malaya. I pray that he will carry out his responsibilities well.
Fair: The only politician I know that lingered around without winning anything or achieving anything. He was never involved in anything significant. Merging his party with PKR was the only thing of note that he did.
As such, I guess it is fair to make him a senator - a fitting end to his foray into politics. This is the BN reward system, strangely practiced by PKR.
Ong: Those who make disparaging comments against Syed Husin - attacks on his age, lack of achievement, and political irrelevance - are ignorant people with very little or no knowledge of Syed Husin's political background and history. They only know that he was never successful in all the general elections but do not know why.
Christopher Abraham: Congratulations, Syed Husin! He is the right man. Simple and selfless. He can get along with all races and is respected by all races. I still remember him coming to our church during an election campaign. He's not a bigot, but one of old world charm. He's best suited to teach a lesson or two to those unruly politicians.
Suhaimi Said: Yes, ini baru betul.
Ghkok: Congratulations, Syed Husin. We salute your dedication and your undying service to the rakyat throughout your career. You are definitely deserving of the senatorship. May you bring your exemplary service to the senate.
Brij Jayaram Kathiravelu: Finally, YB Syed Husin Ali has been recognised for his service, dedication, and sacrifices he made for our country. We need more men and women like him in our country. May God bless him and I wish him all the best in the senate.
Kleo: Two objected, one abstained, and 20 were missing? Hmm... something's not right here. But at least, it's a comfort to know that the 32 would have outnumbered the 20+2+1 anyway. Congrats to Syed Husin. Work hard and good luck!
Tsc: Congrats, Syed Husin! I hope you will be able to contribute to some sensible and intelligent debates in the senate.
Lonestar: Syabas, saudara Syed Husin Ali. You have my wholehearted support. You definitely deserve the senatorship. Go show the others how a senator should act. Syabas.
Dino: Yes, he is the right man. Congrats to you, sir. You are the rakyat's choice.
