The MCA extraordinary general meeting (EGM) scheduled for Saturday will be called off if the party management can find a new date as replacement.

Vice-president Liow Tiong Lai, however, said the new date would have to be agreed by all quarters before it was announced to the public.

Liow ( left) said most MCA members wanted the EGM to be held concurrently with the annual general meeting (AGM) by year end.

The health minister said fresh election was the best way to resolve the prolonged MCA leadership crisis.

Meanwhile, the EGM's chief requisitionist Wong Nai Chee said the group has not made any decision to call off the EGM since there was no decision on whether fresh elections would be held.

"We'll go on with the EGM this Saturday because so far no details on fresh election are available," he said when contacted today.
