PAS spiritual leader Nik Aziz Nik Mat was warded at Hospital Kota Bharu in Kelantan yesterday after suffering from stomach-ache and diarrhea.

The 66-year-old politician, who is also Kelantan menteri besar, was taken to the hospital by his political secretary Annual Bakri Harun at about 5pm.

When contacted, Dr Ahmad Shanwani, who is treating the opposition leader, said Nik Aziz is in stable condition and will be discharged in a day or two.

The doctor added the PAS leader is on intravenous drips as he suffered dehydration.

Due to Nik Aziz's illness, the weekly state executive meeting today was chaired by his deputy Abdul Halim Abdul Rahman.

Nik Aziz is the second PAS leader to have medical problems in recent weeks.

The party's 65-year-old president Fadzil Mohd Noor is recovering from a heart bypass surgery at Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (HUKM) in Kuala Lumpur.

Fadzil, who underwent the surgery last Monday, is yet to regain full consciousness.
