It is up to the MCA central committee (CC) members whether or not to resign to pave the way for fresh elections, party information chief Senator Heng Seai Kei said today.

NONE "It is their right and they are answerable to those central delegates who had elected them for three years," she told reporters at the Parliament lobby.

Heng also expressed her appreciation for the concern shown by Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin who yesterday called on the MCA elected CC members to pave the way for fresh party polls.

Meanwhile, former MCA vice-president Fong Chan Onn said the quickest way to enable the party to stabilise and to solve the party crisis was to have new elections.

"I have full confidence in the wisdom of the central committee members that they will be able to find a way to conduct the elections for party posts in the quickest manner without creating another crisis for the party," he said.
