A police report was lodged today against DAP deputy chairperson M Kulasegaran for allegedly questioning the special rights of the Malays.

The report was lodged by the Ummah Unity Action Group at the Shah Alam police district headquarters based on an article in Utusan Malaysia today.

NONE The article quoted Kulasegaran as saying that Ketuanan Melayu (Malay supremacy) policy goes against the grain of 1Malaysia and does not reflect on the harmony of its people.

The daily also quoted Kulasegaran as saying that he could not understand why skin colour or appearances should determine supremacy.

The Ipoh Barat parliamentarian had reportedly told this to reporters at the Parliament lobby yesterday.

The group's deputy president, Ibrahim Sabri said that they will give Kulasegaran two weeks from today to apologise for his remarks.

Otherwise, he said, they will look for Kulasegaran "to the ends of the earth".

Ibrahim also asked the home minister to arrest the MP under the Internal Security Act for making the remarks.

Special rights of Malays

NONE The group's president, Ahmad Mahayuddin Abdul Manaf added that non-Malays have no right to dispute the special rights of the Malays.

He added that the Malays themselves have never disputed the rights of the non-Malays in Malaysia.

Ahmad Mahayuddin and Ibrahim were among the 12 people brought to the Shah Alam Sessions Court today for their alleged involvement in the cow-head protest last August.

All 12 are charged with the attending an illegal assembly, while six among them are also facing charges of sedition. The trial will begin on April 12 next year.

Upon exiting the court premises, the group held aloft a banner which read: ‘Don't be stupid like a cow. Take care of the Malay feelings and sensitivities'.

NONE The banner also displayed the photos of three DAP leaders, party stalwart Lim Kit Siang, secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and Perak DAP secretary Nga Kor Ming.

Asked about the banner, Mayahuddin said that it was a reaction to the DAP leaders stepping on the photos of three BN-friendly independent assemblypersons in Perak recently.

Ahmad Mayahuddin, however, said his group was not responsible for bringing in the banner which was initially held by their supporters waiting for them outside the court.
