The Kuala Lumpur High Court has set March 16 for case management in a RM10-million defamation suit filed by PKR advisor Anwar Ibrahim against academician and Just World Movement president Dr Chandra Muzaffar.
The date was set when the matter came up for mention before deputy registrar Norazlin Othman in chambers today.
Anwar is suing Chandra over his alleged defamatory remarks at a forum at Menara Star in Petaling Jaya on March 3 last year, which were subsequently published in newspapers.
On Aug 7, Judicial Commissioner Zabariah Mohd Yusof ordered Chandra to furnish the PKR leader further and better particulars on 64 questions.
In his statement of defence, Chandra denied uttering maliciously and falsely any defamatory comment concerning Anwar which was then published on March 5 last year in two local English newspapers.
Alternatively, he claimed that if the words were defamatory, which he denied, then they were published on an occasion of qualified privilege without malice.
