Lawyer Karpal Singh mentioned at a news conference that court action will be taken against the Sultan of Perak and the new state government if Dr Zamry Abd Kadir's swearing-in as Perak

NONE News portal Malaysiakini reporter Lee Way Loon ( right ), however, told the High Court that he was not sure whether the court action would be taken by Karpal Singh or Pakatan Rakyat.

Asked by deputy public prosecutor Melissa Mohd Akhir why he was confused, he said it was because Karpal Singh, who was the DAP chairman, was also a Pakatan Rakyat leader.

NONE Lee, 25, who had been with Malaysiakini's Mandarin division for about a year, said that besides taking down notes, he also recorded the whole news conference.

He was testifying at the trial of Karpal Singh, 69, on a charge of making a seditious statement against the Sultan of Perak at a news conference at his office at Messrs Karpal Singh & Co in Jalan Pudu Lama here between noon and 12.30pm on Feb 6.

Lee said he asked several questions at the news conference but could not recall them and the notes he made that day were no longer in his possession.

Besides the Perak issue, Karpal Singh also said that he disagreed with PKR advisor Anwar Ibrahim on the issue of party-hopping.

Earlier, another witness, TV3 cameraman Mohd Jufri Mohd Judin, 32, told the court that he only recorded 30 minutes of the news conference.

Cross-examined by counsel Singh Deo, who is also Karpal Singh's son, he said he was not sure of the size of the tape used although he knew what type it was.

He also said that he did not make any note or mark on the tape.

Asked whether he remembered what the news conference was about, he said it was about Karpal Singh wanting to sue the Sultan of Perak.

The trial before judicial commissioner Azman Abdullah continues on Monday.
