Chinese chambers to hold 1Malaysia economic confab

President William Cheng said the conference would bring together experts, entrepreneurs and national legislators to deliberate on the 10 th Malaysia Plan.
It would also discuss the prospect and challenges of Malaysia's transformation to become a high income economy, and to get feedback and recommendations in shaping and implementing the country's new economic model.
The conference, themed "1Malaysia - New Economic Model", was a platform for the public and private sectors to interact and exchange their views, Cheng told press conference today.
Among the topics to be discussed were Joint Venture and Entrepreneurship Promotion in the New Economic Model, Malaysia's Strategic Position in the Globally Competitive Market, Towards High Income Economy, Role of Government in Economic Development and Sectoral Proposals on New Economic Model.
Prime Minister Najib Abdul is scheduled to officiate the conference.
There will be special address sessions by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Nor Mohamed Yakcop on Challenges after the Global Financial Crisis and National Economic Advisory Council chairman Senator Amirsham Abdul Aziz on New Economic Model: Prospects and Challenges.
Cheng said the conference was expected to attract 1,000 participants.
