The Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) today announced the appointment of Redza Rafiq Abdul Razak as its new chief executive effective Jan 1, 2010.

In a statement today, NCIA said the appointment follows the resignation of its current chief executive Mohd Annuar Zaini, who had written to Prime Minister Najib Razak on Nov 25, expressing his intention to resign from the position.

His resignation has been duly received by NCIA and is effective Dec 31, 2009, the statement said.

It also said the prime minister together with the members of the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority expressed their profound gratitude and appreciation to Mohd Annuar for his invaluable contributions in steering the many development initiatives for the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER) since its inception and for the progress achieved thus far.

Redza, who is currently the managing director of Cyberview Sdn Bhd, had also been Cyberview's chief operating officer before being appointed its chief executive officer in July 2004 to restructure and revive Cyberjaya.

He has been involved in the development of Cyberjaya since 1997.

Redza holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Hull, United Kingdom and an MBA (Finance and E Commerce).

He was previously with the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) prior to his secondment to Cyberview.

Began his career in Renong

His primary roles at MDeC were to ensure the financial sustainability of MDeC and its venture capital subsidiary, and to help enable the delivery of new programmes to spur the growth of the information and communications technology industry via the MSC Malaysia initiative.

He was also responsible for the financial restructuring of MDeC.

Redza started his career at the Renong group of companies under the Renong group management office and was exposed to various corporate management roles.

He presently sits on the Board of Syarikat Prasarana Negara Bhd, the company that provides rail and bus public transport infrastructure in the Klang Valley and Penang.

He also sits on the Boards of Cyberview; Malaysia Venture Capital Management Bhd - Malaysia's largest venture capital firm which focuses on investments in ICT sector; Fabtronic Sdn Bhd; Pendinginan Megajana Sdn Bhd and the Malaysian Institute of Corporate Governance.
