The Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (CVLB) has frozen all licensing matters of the bus company Sani United Sdn Bhd including applications for new licences and changes in the conditions of service for a year effective today.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Mohamed Nazri Aziz, who announced the decision of CVLB's special committee meeting today, said the board also cancelled the permit for the double-decker bus bearing the registration number WFX5010 which was involved in an accident at the Km 272.8 of the North-South Expressway on Dec 26.

"The meeting today also agreed to order the company to enhance its driver management system within one month," he told a news conference at Parliament lobby today.

Also present were CVLB chairperson Halimah Mohd Sadique as well as representatives of agencies involved in the inquiry into the fatal accident.

Ten people were killed while two others were injured in the 1am incident after the double-decker bus went out of control and rammed into a road divider while on its way to Kangar from Klang, Selangor.

Thirty-six other passengers and the bus' two drivers were uninjured.
