Land owners in Perak can check on the status of their property via the short messaging service (SMS) offered by the State Land and Mines Office (PTG), Menteri Besar Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said today.

He said they would have to type PTGPK <space> CUKAI <space> LAND TITLE NUMBER and send to 32244.

NONE Zambry warned that the state government would not hesitate to confiscate the land of the owners who did not pay the quit rent, under Section 100 of the National Land Code.

"The land administration is targeting a 100 per cent collection of quit rent in 2010.

"With the SMS service and online payment facilities via Maybank, Bank Islam, Hong Leong Bank, CIMB Bank and Public Bank, it will be easier for the land owners to pay the quit rent," he said after delivering an executive talk at the Banquet Hall in Ipoh.

Zambry said he would make an announcement on a newspaper report last Thursday on LINEAR Corp Bhd having won a RM1.7-billion project from Global Investment Group Inc of Seychelles to build a district cooling plant in Manjung, Perak, for the King Dome project.

"I will make an announcement later. Many more projects will be set up in Perak, including following my recent visit to the United States, though some people have claimed that I was denied entry into the United States and was sent back to Malaysia," he said.
