Dzulkarnain Taib, the Suara Keadilan journalist who wrote the article ‘Pornthip confirms Beng Hock was murdered’, gave a statement to the police on it at the Shah Alam police headquarters today.

When approached by reporters, Dzulkarnain, 48, who is also the editor of the PKR organ, said his statement was recorded by a single police officer and that he was satisfied with the process. 

"I gave my full cooperation as they are only doing their job following a police report being lodged over the article," he said, adding that this was the first time he had been called in by the police since joining the editorial staff of Suara Keadilan .

He also said that he was unsure if he would be called up to give additional statements.

Police to decide what to do next

The probe comes in the wake of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission lodging a police report on Friday claiming the article published in Suara Keadilan's Dec 29-Jan 2010 edition was subjudice as an inquest into Teoh's death is still going on.

Meanwhile, Selangor police chief Khalid Abu Bakar, when contacted, said police would have to go through Dzulkarnain's statement first before deciding on the next course of action.

Teoh, a political aide to a Selangor state executive councillor, was found dead on the fifth floor landing at Plaza Masalam here on July 16, after being questioned by the MACC at their Selangor headquarters on the 14th floor.

The Pornthip the article referred to is Thai forensic pathlologist Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand, who is assisting the Selangor government in the inquest.
