The brother of political aide Teoh Beng Hock, who died last July, Teoh Meng Kee today lodged a police report on behalf of his family against the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officer Raub Ghani.

NONE Senior lawyer Karpal Singh, speaking on behalf of the Teoh family and their counsel Gobind Singh Deo, said that they cannot reveal the details of the report at the moment.

"Teoh Meng Kee has lodged a report today in relation to the report lodged by Raub Ghani on Jan 1, 2010.

"He wants the police to investigate the report. That's about all we can say for the moment," he said at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters this afternoon.

It is believed that the Teoh family police report is linked to a witness intimidation attempt by the MACC officer against Thai pathologist Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand.

Application for contempt this Friday

Last week, Karpal pointed out that a person found guilty of intimidating a witness can face up to 10 years jail under the Abduction and Witness Protection Act.

On Jan 1, Raub filed a police report against Pornthip over an article in PKR publication Suara Keadilan which alleged that former DAP political aide Beng Hock may have been murdered.

The article claimed that Pornthip had uncovered evidence during the second post-mortem on Nov 22 which proves that Teoh was murdered.

Teoh's family then filed an application on Jan 5 to cite Raub for contempt of court for lodging the said police report.

Karpal, refusing to comment further on the case, confirmed that coroner Azmil Muntapha Abas will hear an application to initiate contempt proceedings against Raub on Jan 15.

"The application to commit Raub Ghani for contempt of court goes on this Friday. Raub Ghani has filed an affidavit in reply to Teoh Meng Kee's affidavit. That definitely goes on," he said.

The Teoh family had claimed that the police report against Pornthip was done to undermine her testimony at the inquest to determine the cause of his death.
