PAS leader Hasan Ali today brushed off suggestions that the Islamic party is practising the "cah keting" culture in Selangor, although its spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat openly admitted of its existence throughout the party.

"Cah keting" is a Kelantanese for 'sabotaging'.

hasan ali umno pas selangor talk quality hotel 300708 06 Speaking to reporters in Shah Alam today, Hasan, who is also the PAS Selangor commissioner, said: "If there is any change in the party leadership in the state, it is for the party's own good".

According to him, " cah keting " is not an issue because PAS Selangor has been practising an open policy in the state administration.

"We in PAS are very gentlemen. If there is any leadership change, that will be for our own good and for the benefit of our movement here," he said.

"Besides, if we want to have a leadership change in the state, we would need to refer the matter to the Dewan Harian and the state's liaison committee. We will never make our own decision about this," he added.

Yesterday, Nik Aziz, who is also the Kelantan menteri besar, acknowledged the existence of the " cah keting " culture, which according to him, has become a liability to the party.

Although he did not specifically reveal the leaders that have been sacked because of this, he however conducted a special prayer in the northern state so that the party could protect itself from this culture.

Khalid's personal view on 'Allah'

On a separate note, Hasan also said that PAS MP Khalid Samad had expressed "his personal view" on the 'Allah' issue where he defended the non-Muslim’s right to use the term to refer to God.

NONE According to Hasan, who is known for not seeing eye-to-eye with Khalid ( right ) over various state and party matters, said the former's view does not represent that of PAS Selangor.

"I think that is his own personal view. Our stance (Selangor PAS) is in line with the spiritual leader's view and the spirit shown by the president and the party top leadership.

"If there is someone with a different view, I consider that personal and it does not represent the state.

"However, if he wants to express his opinion in the name of the party, then he should be in line with the state PAS' stance on the matter," he added.

Nevertheless, Hasan said Khalid's opinion did not put PAS in a bad light.

"The people understand this issue and they have even read my statement. Besides, my statement (on the 'Allah' issue) came out earlier than the comments from my friends," he said.

The PAS leadership recently decided that non-Muslims are allowed to use the term as it is not forbidden in Islam.

However, they expressed concern that the term could be 'exploited' by certain parties.
