Exactly a decade after Anwar was sacked as deputy prime minister on allegations of ‘sexual deviance and corruption’, Saiful had grabbed headlines with another bombshell.

In June 2008, the then 23-year-old who worked as an aide to the opposition leader, filed a police report claiming that Anwar had sodomised him.

Just like in 1998, Anwar denied the allegation and accused his political adversaries of concocting a conspiracy to stop the opposition’s advance in the wake of the March 8 political tsunami.

In his latest blog posting, Saiful appealed for prayers and guidance from the public in facing this momentous task.

He also expressed hope that the accused does not attempt to delay the case from being heard any further.

Psychological and spiritual preparations

"In watching the clock tick down to the final moments of this episode, which has dragged on for more than a year, much had to be done to prepare myself to enter the ring.

"In view of this, I humbly request for guidance (tips) on preparing for a court case from the psychological and spiritual aspects," he added.

He also asked readers to help equip him with the necessary legal knowledge, reading materials, and also on ways to testify as well as to answer questions when he takes the stand.
