Malaysia Makkal Sakti Party president RS  has informed the Registrar of Societies (ROS) on the sacking of its 14 central committee (CC) members yesterday.

He said the expulsion of the 14 - also known as Group of 14 (G14) - took effect on Jan 20, adding that the decision to expel them was made by 18 CC members.

thanenthiran "Copies of the termination letters sent to the CC members was forwarded to the ROS yesterday.

"Meantime, I would also wait for the ROS decision to ascertain my position as the rightful Makkal Sakti (MMSP) president, following the decision made by the party's central committee which voted to kick me out," Thanenthiran told reporters after chairing a special CC meeting at the party headquarters near Shah Alam today.

On Wednesday, Thanenthiran was reported to have said that he had sacked the 14 CC members who belong to a faction aligned towards party deputy president A Vathemurthy and secretary-general Kannan Ramasamy, for failing to respond to a show-cause letter.

G14 voted to expel Thanenthiran

On Jan 17, the 14 CC members voted to kick out 46-year-old Thanenthiran for failing to respond to several allegations levelled against him.

Thanenthiran has denied allegations that he was trying to amend the party's constitution, which would allow the president more power and enable him to sack and suspend anyone he wanted.

Meanwhile, he said the party had not sought any advice from Klang-based businessman Oms Thiyagarajan, a popular philanthropist in the Indian community, on its future direction.

"Neither did I issue any official letter to appoint him (Thiyagarajan) as a party advisor of Makkal Sakti," he said, adding that he would get clarification from Thiyagarajan on the matter.

NONE Thanenthiran, however, said that Thiyagarajan had given financial assistance to Makkal Sakti, which included financing the renovation works of the party headquarters.

MMSP, a BN-friendly party, was launched by Prime Minister Najib Razak three months ago.
