'Wild boar heads might have come from farms'

The wild boar heads found in the two mosques in Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya yesterday might have been obtained from farms in Banting or Semenyih, according to an imam from one of the mosques involved.

Head of the imam of Masjid Al-Imam Al-Tirmizi in Taman Sri Sentosa, Abu Bakar Yaakob, said: "The wild boar might have originated from there. But I am not sure," he said, adding he read about the farms in a newspaper.

However he was uncertain which newspaper it was and when the article was published.

"The wild boar is reared for the exotic delicacy market," Abu Bakar ( left ) said, saying that there are a few restaurants in that area that had dishes featuring it.

He surmised that the culprits carefully planned the attacks as it was difficult to track them down.

"They were very organised. It was the same at the other mosque (Masjid Jumhuriyah, Taman Datuk Harun, Petaling Jaya).

"However we have no idea who the culprits are," adding he did not want to make wild accusations as this might hinder police investigations.

When asked on the approach taken by the mosque to calm the worshippers, he said that he would give advice during the religious classes. 

"We will also advise preachers in this mosque not to raise any suspicions or accuse anyone."

Meanwhile, another imam of the same mosque, Zulkifli Mohamad ( right ), said security would be raised to avoid similar incidents.

He said they met the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) director yesterday.

"He agreed we should place security guards at the mosque. They will be on duty at night only. Also, the police have told us that they would be increasing their patrols in this area."
