More than 1,500 people have joined a Facebook group created yesterday in protest of Nasir Safar's 'racist' remarks. And the figure is increasing by the minute.

Called ' Say No to Nasir Safar ', the group was initiated by Putera MIC national council member Novinthen Krishnan.

030210 Angry comments have also been piling up, with one person calling for Nasir to be arrested under the Internal Security Act and his citizenship revoked.

However, one commentator remarked that the issue could be an attempt to divert the people's attention from the Anwar Ibrahim sodomy trial, the Allah issue, missing jet engines and the Goods and Services Tax.

While another pinned the blame on the education system.

"The Malaysian education system is a screwed up system, one nation, one government, one ministry, one education system but different standards for vernacular schools and national schools," read the posting.

When contacted, Novinthen said that he had created the group because he was vexed with Nasir’s comments.

"I was obviously angered when he described Indians and Chinese in Malaysia as 'pendatang' or 'guests'.

"This led me to create a Facebook group so that others who share the same viewpoints as me could express their feelings," he said.

'Jangan panggil kami pendatang'

Nasir, who is a special officer to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, had ruffled feathers when he uttered the comments during a '1Malaysia' seminar in Malacca yesterday morning.

NONE His statements prompted MIC and MCA members as well as representatives from non-governmental organisations to stage a walkout.

MIC leaders, including party president S Samy Vellu, expressed outrage and demanded that action be taken against him.

Several hours later, the Prime Minister's Department announced that Nasir would resign from his post.

This morning, federal CID director Mohd Bakri Zinin revealed that 12 police reports had been lodged nationwide against the special officer.

Meanwhile, there is also another Facebook group, called ' Jangan panggil kami pendatang ', created in protest against Nasir.
