PKR parliamentarian Tan Tee Beng has been referred to the party disciplinary committee for criticising top Pakatan Rakyat leaders, including PKR deputy president Syed Husin Ali and Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.

He said that Tan ( left ) is welcome to write to party leaders if he is dissatisfied with the decision.

It was learnt that the decision to refer Tan to the disciplinary committee was made during the PKR political bureau meeting last night.

Tan is the fourth PKR leader to be referred to the disciplinary committee within a week.

Yesterday, Tan urged Syed Hussin to quit PKR, citing unhappiness over a text message that he received from the deputy president.

In the text message, Syed Husin advised him to stop issuing statements that would damage the image of PKR and Pakatan. 

Unfazed, Tan showed reporters Syed Husin's text message yesterday and defended his claims that Lim was "arrogant", stubborn and sidelining Chinese elected representatives from PKR.

Although PKR upholds freedom of expression, its treasurer-general William Leong said, however, there are limits to it. 

He pointed out that there are internal channels for members to air their grouses so "such views should not be made public" as the people's perception would be of a party riven by contention. 

Leong said when contacted today that the party's decision shows that it is being consistent in its approach to instill discipline among members. 

 Concurring, PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution added that the party has solid grounds to haul Tan before the disciplinary committee.

"He will be called in before the disciplinary committee and be given the floor to defend himself," said Saifuddin when contacted.
