The night of Feb 12 was one that an 18-year-old would rather forget but cannot. It was when four policemen without identifying themselves, allegedly assaulted him.

    

NONE "It was 10pm. I was just sitting on the railing and waiting for my father at the Star LRT Sentul Station as usual.

"Suddenly, four guys got down from their van, approached me, bashed me up and dragged me into their van.

"I feared that I was being kidnapped," said the SPM leaver who has been so traumatised by the experience that he requested anonymity.

He added that they came at him without a word, pounced on him, dragged him across the road, beat him up  and then one sat on his face before taking him to the Sentul police station.

He told Malaysiakini that the four did not identify themselves as the police before launching the assault on him.

"I was too scared and started calling for help and the police, not knowing that they were indeed the police."

At the police station, he said he was treated like a criminal while being interrogated, including being repeatedly hit and asked for his reasons for being at the LRT station at that particular time, and was he a drug addict or a snatch thief.

NONE He suffered injuries to his ribs, stomach and face ( above and left ).

Anxious father

Meanwhile, his anxious father called his son twice on his handphone and the police answered the second time informing him about the detention.

The teenager said he was released soon after the arrival of his father, a scheduled urine test was also cancelled.

“When my father asked the police, what happened to me, one of them said I was dragged as I was trying to escape from being arrested on suspicion,” he added.

The SPM leaver, said the father filed for a police report on the next day at Sentul police station but till today nothing has been done and that’s why he decided to get in touch with Malaysiakin i since none of mainstream press had responded to his emails.   

Now the father wants compensation for the medical fees of RM75 charged by a private clinic, handphone, shirt, pants, and jacket damaged during the incident.

When contacted, Sentul OCPD Zakaria Pagan confirmed the case but declined to comment.

But it hardly needs to be said that the teenager will carry the emotional scars from that experience for the rest of his life.
