The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) is still reviewing several matters in the Audit Report 2008, regarding Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad's (SPNB) purchase of 1,294 used-buses worth RM93 million in 2003.

In relation to that, PAC chairman Azmi Khalid said he would not make any comment or conclusion on the issue as investigations were ongoing.

"I can't make any comment as we still have a few more pages of the report to go through," he told reporters after chairing a PAC management meeting in Parliament today.

During the four-hour meeting which was also attended by representatives from Prasarana and the finance ministry, Azmi said he would decide when the next meeting was to be held.

He declined to say if the committee would meet again tomorrow.

The Audit Report 2008 criticised SPNB's asset liquidation procedure, including their plan to get rid of 1,139 buses which were kept at the Serendah and Sungai Buaya bus depots.

According to the report, 459 (40.3 per cent) of the 1,139 buses could be refurbished by either repairing its engine or accessories.

Furthermore, some of the buses had not been used since they were taken over by SPNB in 2004.

The reports also stated that SPNB, which took over the CityLiner and Intrakota bus companies in a public transport restructuring in 2004, should have repaired the buses and re-used parts that were still in good condition.
