A PAS senator has discontinued his legal bid to challenge a decision by the Kelantan Regent to revoke his datukship and other honours, including Justice of the Peace, bestowed on him by the Sultan of Kelantan.

High Court judge Aziah Ali struck out the suit today after senator Ahmad Rusli Iberahim withdrew the application for a judicial review of the regent's action.

The court was scheduled to hear the application today.

In his suit filed on Nov 30, 2009, Ahmad Rusli said he was informed by the Kelantan State Secretary in a letter dated Sept 29 the same year that the regent had revoked the Darjah Kebesaran Jiwa Mahkota Kelantan Yang Amat Mulia, Darjah Kebesaran Setia Mahkota Kelantan Yang Amat Terbilang (ASK) and Justice of the Peace (JP) which he received between 1996 and 1998.

He was asked to return the honours and could no longer use the title of Dato or exercise the powers of a Justice of the Peace.

Ahmad Rusli was appointed a senator for a three-year term from July 7, 2008.
