Sacked PKR Bandar-Bahru Kulim member of Parliament Zulkifli Noordin today said that Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail should quit her post as PKR president for failing to defend Islam and for asking him to vacate his Kulim-Bandar Bharu seat.

"While claiming to protect Islam, Wan Azizah allowed me to be brought before the disciplinary board, which had non-Muslims, to be tried on the 'Allah' row," he said in his blog post late this evening.

In addition to this, he said Wan Azizah ( below ) should resign as PKR president as she had failed to lead the party well as evidenced by the leaving of three members of Parliament and five state assembly persons.

keadilan wan azizah On Saturday, the PKR supreme council endorsed its disciplinary board's decision to sack Zulkifli on two charges - the first charge believed to be over his police report against Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad from PAS, and second over his attacks against Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.

Zulkifli, however, had linked the charges against him to his strident attack against PKR party leaders who he claimed were in support of the High Court’s decision to allow non-Muslims use of the word 'Allah'.

Following his sacking, Wan Azizah urged Zulkifli to vacate his Kulim-Bandar Bharu seat to which Zulkifli said that this was an unprecedented call.

Zulkifli said following the dismissal of Anwar Ibrahim from Umno in 1998, Wan Aziziah did not ask her husband to vacate the Permatang Pauh parliamentary seat at the time. He also pointed to Anwar's failed 'Sept 16' plan to entice Barisan Nasional MPs to defect to Pakatan Rakyat.

"I didn't hear Wan Azizah promising that these BN parliamentarians would resign from their seats on the basis of fairness and democracy," he said.

"When it comes to self-interest, everything is halal (legal) but when it hurts them, everything is haram (illegal). Does the end justify the means? What exactly are the policies of PKR?"

dap agm ipoh 170109 karpal singh Taking his attacks to a more personal level, Zulkifli said Wan Azizah wearing a glove on her right hand, ostensibly to avoid skin contact with the opposite sex, was insufficient to prove her religious piety.

"I respect Wan Azizah's position not to touch the hands of men, but Islam is more than just a silk glove, a la Michael Jackson," he said.

Wan Azizah has previously explained that she had wears the glove because of a skin allergy.

In another development, another PKR MP Wee Choo Keong, in his latest blog posting, hit out at DAP chairperson Karpal Singh ( left ) over the latter's recent endorsement of PKR advisor Anwar Ibrahim as opposition leader.

He pointed out that on Feb 8, 2009 Karpal had launched a highly publicised attack on Anwar for "causing problems" within the fledgling Pakatan Rakyat coalition.

Wee, who has had many run-ins with DAP leaders in his political career, called upon Karpal to withdraw the remarks made a year ago and declare that ‘he had now repented’.

No way, says PAS

In a related development, PAS vice-president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man has denied making overtures to Zulkifli Noordin to join PAS.

Zulkifli had claimed there was an invitation by Tuan Ibrahim for him to join the Islamic party.

He said in his blog that he was ‘delighted’ with the invite and thanked Tuan Ibrahim though he would have to mull over the offer first as he had only just been recently ‘divorced’ from PKR.

"I have to study the matter first. Surely I have to seriously consider it. Maybe I will meet senior PAS leaders. I'm glad that I received an invitation just a day after being sacked from PKR," he wrote.

Tuan Ibrahim's claimed invitation first appeared in online portal Mstar yesterday but he has since denied any such offer to Zulkifli, according to PAS party organ Harakah’s online version

He said he was misquoted and it was unlikely PAS would accept Zulkifli as it may anger its Pakatan Rakyat partners.
