The Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court today acquitted and discharged an assistant director with the Public Works Department who was harged with corruptly receiving a RM6,831 wristwatch.

Judge Rosbiahanim Ariffin in making the decision said the prosecution had failed to establish a prima facie case against the accused Salihin Abd Rahman, 33, who was alleged to have received a Tag Heuer watch from Tan Eng Tik, a contractor from ET Tan Enterprise, at a coffee shop in Segambut on Sept 14, 2005.

He was charged with knowingly accepting the watch although it was from the company that was to receive a sub-labour project from SM Builder, a sub-contractor, for the Taman Seri Segambut mosque project.

Salihin was represented by Azwan Abdul Wahab, while the prosecution was led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohd Asnawi Abu Hanipah.
