The first result of this Sunday's MCA elections are expected at 7pm, secretary-general Wong Foon Meng said.  

He also expects a high turnout, possibly exceeding 90 percent, and an intense atmosphere.

"Everything is ready. Some 150 party staff have been roped in to man the elections," he told Bernama.    

 

A total of 2,378 central delegates will cast their votes for the 31 posts at stake, key of which is the three-cornered fight for the president's seat.  

Incumbent president Ong Tee Keat is defending the seat against former president Ong Ka Ting and former deputy president Dr Chua Soi Lek.
