Prime Minister Najib Razak said he was ready to meet Kulim-Bandar Baru MP Zulkifli Noordin who said there was a campaign to implicate the prime minister and his wife in the murder of Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu.

"I'm glad to meet him and find out the truth because I believe the truth will prevail eventually," he said.

On Wednesday, Zulkifli had said that he would meet and apologise to certain individuals, including the prime minister.

Zulkifli, now an independent MP after being sacked by PKR on March 6, dropped a bombshell in Parliament by alleging that he was offered a hefty reward to implicate Najib and Rosmah Mansor in the murder.

Asked if a committee would be set up by police to investigate Zulkifli's claim, Najib said: "I 'll leave it to the police. I don't direct the police in such matters. Just leave it to the police."

Foreign minister has heart surgery

Meanwhile, Najib confirmed that Foreign Minister Anifah Aman was recovering from a coronary by-pass operation last week and would continue his duties after recovery.

Earlier, an oath taking ceremony was held to welcome new Umno supreme council member Hamidah Osman who will represent the Wanita Umno movement.

Najib said the appointment of the Wanita information chief who is also a Perak exco member was based on the party's new constitution.
