MCA presidential hopeful Dr Chua Soi Lek’s sex scandal continue to be exploited by his detractors where copies of the DVD purportedly containing footage of him having sex with a woman - accompanied by a few bananas - made an appearance at the MCA pre-election dinner tonight.

Supporters of the candidates made their final pitch as the contestants and delegates of tomorrow's MCA elections attended the ‘final’ dinner at the party headquarters ahead of polling tomorrow.

The three candidates for president were present - incumbent Ong Tee Keat, former president Ong Ka Ting and former deputy president Soi Lek.

Sin Chew ‘backs’ Ka Ting

Meanwhile, a Tee Keat supporter complained to Malaysiakini that Sin Chew Daily had refused to accept a paid advertisement from the incumbent president, thus forcing him to take up a last-minute advertisement in rival Oriental Daily today.

Tee Keat supporters were seen busily distributing Oriental Daily to the delegates in order to get their message across to them.

During the dinner, Tee Keat urged the delegates to support the “general who can lead the fight in the battlefield” rather than killing him off in an internal factional fight.

The president race is a neck-and-neck battle between Soi Lek and Ka Ting, with Tee Keat acting as the spoiler. The incumbent party boss will need a miracle to retain his post.

Tee Keat will exact revenge against Ka Ting by taking votes from him, allowing a Soi Lek victory. The incumbent has repeatedly accused his predecessor for engineering his demise .

The incumbent party boss, who appeared to be more popular outside the party than inside, has called on his 1,100 Facebook supporters to change their photo profile on their webpage to his campaign colour of orange for one day tomorrow.

“Let's make this as a way to show our support as ordinary citizens of Malaysia,” he said.

The battle of ministers

Another MCA minister, Ng Yen Yen, is said to be the hot favorite among the 10 contestants who are competing for the four vice-president’s posts.

Both Kong and Ng are linked to Soi Lek’s faction.

A total of 2,377 delegates will begin voting from 10am to 5pm tomorrow at the MCA headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.

Apart from the six top posts, 86 are vying for the 25 seats in the powerful central committee.

Given that this is the most crowded election in MCA’s history, where 101 party leaders are contesting for 31 posts, the result is expected to be known at around 9pm.
