Satellite image shows hotspots in Sarawak
A satellite image by the National Aeronautic and Space Administration (Nasa) showed that the wildfires in Sarawak were almost as serious as those in its neighbour Kalimantan during the peak of a recurring haze over the state two weeks ago.
A reader alerted malaysiakini today about the image
which was acquired and posted on the Nasa earth observatory website on Aug 19."Haze from fires is thick over the Indonesian island of Borneo. Scores of wildfires (red dots) were detected by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (Modis) on the Terra satellite," read the caption below the image.
There were two main clusters of hotspots spreading over the southern border of Sarawak and Kalimantan.
