Deputy Prime Minister  Muhyiddin Yassin today announced an allocation of RM2 million to overcome the frequent flooding problems at Kampung Sentosa in Batang Kali, which is located in the Hulu Selangor constituency.

Muhyiddin, who is also the BN deputy chairperson, said the allocation to improve the drainage system in the area, which is near the Sungai Batang Kali, would be channelled through the Public Works Department (PWD).

"The government will implement the project as soon as possible and it will be carried out by the PWD," he said at a gathering with the residents of Kampung Sentosa at the As-Sajirin Mosque grounds this afternoon.

Earlier, Muhyiddin performed the 'Asar' prayer with the residents.

Also present was Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Noh Omar, who is also the Selangor BN deputy chairperson.

    

The deputy prime minister announced the allocation after listening to a briefing by a PWD officer on the flood problems faced frequently in the area which affected more than 2,000 residents.

"I hope this project will be carried out as soon as possible... don't take a long time," he said to loud applause from the more than 100 residents present at the function.

Muhyiddin said the last time the area was hit by the floods was on Sept 4, last year which affected an area measuring more than 1sq km.
