Najib Razak celebrated his first anniversary as prime minister today by visiting and meeting the people in Hulu Selangor.

Najib has a tight morning to evening programme in the parliamentary area which will see a by-election on April 25.

 

najib visit to kuala kubu 030410 03 His day started this morning with the launching of Kelana Ehsan Foundation and meeting Felda settlers at Sungai Tengi Felda multi-purpose hall at 10am.

He is scheduled to officiate at the ground-breaking ceremony for a housing project for the second generation of Felda settlers and later attend a wedding reception at Soeharto Felda.

Najib will then join the locals for the Zohor prayers at Gedangsa Felda Mosque before attending a briefing session with Hulu Selangor Barisan Nasional in Kuala Kubu Baharu.

najib visit to kuala kubu 030410 12 He is also scheduled to go for his usual walkabout, this time with the Chinese and Orang Asli communities in Kuala Kubu Baharu and with the Indian community in Bukit Teratai.

The informal meet-the-grassroots tradition, which he started the day after taking office last year, is a reflection of a people-friendly government, which has been the hallmark of Najib's administration.

In his walkabouts, Najib mingles with the people, talks to them and get to know their problems.

najib visit to kuala kubu 030410 09 His first was on April 4 last year where he visited Petaling Street in Kuala Lumpur, an area synonymous with Chinese traders, before visiting Vista Angkasa housing estate in Bukit Kerinchi, Bangsar,  where the majority of residents are Malays.

He then visited shophouses in Jalan Tun Sambanthan, Brickfields, which is known as "Little India".

Najib took office on April 3 last year, succeeding Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

A tahlil in conjunction with his first year in office would be held at his official residence in Seri Perdana this evening.
